Welcome to AJ Tours

A J Tours was the idea of Pascal Jobogo and it came to life in 2007 when Pascal made the decision to run a tour company centred around supporting community initiatives and fulfilling the dreams of those with a passion for travel and adventure.

Starting with just one minibus Pascal began to lead tours taking friends and clients he had met through his work in travel and tourism throughout Uganda, DRC, Rwanda, Belgium and Spain. As the business grew, so did the team and the fleet. Andrew joined to help manage operations and trip planning and Adam as Head Guide. Today we are a core team of five with an extended team of expert guides whom we bring in as needed and as support backup. Our fleet of 7 safari vehicles means that we can offer the best option depending on your needs and budget.

We welcome groups and travellers from all over the world including USA, Mexico, Canada, Australia, the UK and Europe.

We specialise in providing all travel logistics to NGOs and charities delivering community initiatives on the ground in Uganda, Rwanda and DRC. We have supported many community and animal welfare projects, delivered donations of clothes, books and medical supplies. We help those supporting children’s education and we continue to enjoy supporting Joy Howell Honorary Member of the Rotary Club Kabale in Uganda (based in the UK), acting as liaison with the Uganda School of Nursing in Bwindi, Buhoma Community Hospital, Buhoma Community Primary School, Karangara Community Primary School and Bubaare Secondary School in Kabale.

We also create trips to fulfill people’s life long travel dreams - whether they are to walk among the tribal groups of Northern Uganda or climb the Rwenzori mountains, we can make them happen.

Pascal Jobogo, owner of A J Tours & Travel

Pascal himself has been on an incredible journey. It’s hard to imagine that so many twists and turns could have happened in one person’s life. Originally from the village of Katana in Eastern Congo Pascal was one of 24 children! His father was village chief and a grower of coffee and all was well until political conflict saw all of their family money taken. Pascal turned from school to helping with the other children and eventually left home to earn money, going to work 350km away at the Hotel de la Rwindi in the Virunga National Park after training in hotel management in Tunisia.

Learning hotel management and cooking skills over the coming years Pascal became a talented chef, returning in 1979 to the Congo to start training people in restaurants and hotels there. During this period he met so many people that have changed his life including the famous Primatologist Diana Fossey (of the film Gorillas in the Mist), famed conservationist known for her undertaking of extensive research into the lives and behaviours of the Mountain Gorilla.

From Rwanda, Pascal went to Brussels in Belgium and Barcelona where he started his first adventure in tourism. During his stay in Belgium he worked with the European community as a chef.

In 1993, he relocated to Uganda where he opened several restaurants and hotels. These Included Restaurant Le continental, Hill crest Hotel, Hotel La Renference, and USAID Uganda Cafeteria.

One of his early A J Tours clients was Ghyslaine Keiser, a woman travelling on safari from Switzerland. Driving across the Kasenyi Plains in search of big game, Pascal took her to the fishing village of Kasenyi. From that day a whole new story began. Ghyslaine made a real connection with the village after a teenage girl approached Pascal to discuss money for her education. She made the decision to help put better education, sanitation and medical facilities in place and within just two years had built the primary school which now educates all of the village children. Pascal continues to support the work of Ghyslaine and her NGO Association Keiser to this day.
