DISCOVER KENYA AND UGANDA SAFARI – 15 DAYS.

This is a safari for individuals interested seeing and viewing the beauty of Kenya and Uganda. It involves a lot of activities included but not limited to Game drives in Masia Mara, Game drive in Lake Nakuru NP, visit Eldoret, Naivasha and Kisumu towns, Gorilla trekking in Bwindi, chimps trekking, game viewing and boat trips on Kazinga channel. The areas to be visit include Masia Mara National Park, Lake Nakuru National Park, Kibale National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and Lake Mburo National Park. This trip can be extended to Rwanda for another gorilla trekking in a different environment.

 This safari can be organized with a minimum of 2 participants and a maximum of 10 participants. This safari can also be organized for family groups.

 Visa for Uganda is $ 50 Dollars person delivered at Entebbe Airport.

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport.

Day 2: Kampala – Transfer to Eldoret

Day 3. Eldoret – Transfer to Lake Nakuru NP (evening game drive)

Day 4. Game drive - Transfer to Naivasha.

Day 5: Naivasha – transfer to Masai Mara

Day 6: Game drives – Masai Mara

Day 7: Masai Mara - Transfer to Kisumu

Day 8: Kisumu – Kampala.

Day 9: Kampala – Transfer to Kibale.

Day 10: Chimp trekking – Transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP.

Day 11: Game drive – Boat trip (QENP)

Day 12: Transfer to Ishasha – Game drive – Bwindi.

Day 13: Gorilla Trekking.

Day 14: Bwindi – Transfer to Kampala

Day 15: Kampala visit and Departure.

What is included on this trip?

Airport transfers, lodge accommodation, all meals, mineral water, the services of a Driver-Guide, all park and entry fees, all activities as per the itinerary: game drives in Lake Nakuru, bird watching, game drives at Masai Mara, visit to Kisumu, Naivasha and Eldoret towns, Chimp trekking, boat trip on the Kazinga channel, visit of Kasenyi fishing village and salt works, game drive in Ishasha, gorilla trekking in Bwindi, and Kampala visit.

What is excluded in this trip?

Personal expenses, visas, flight charges, all drinks except Mineral Water and other personal expenditures like tips and donations.

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport.

On arrival at Entebbe airport you will be received by a team of AJ tours. Here you will be transferred to your hotel for an overnight. If you arrive in the morning, you may choose an activity that you will do outside the safari plan. This will enable you to keep busy that whole day before the safari departure the following day.

Some of the activities/day excursion that you can choose include; visit to the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, visit the Botanical Gardens, visit to Mabira Forest reserve (Nature walk and birding).

Day 2: Kampala – Transfer to Kenya (Eldoret)

After breakfast you will depart to Kenya via Balaba border with Uganda. This is a day drive on road. While you are traveling clients will able to see the most exiting moment of Kenyan people and sceneries. You will have a picnic Lunch on the way to Eldoret. Dinner and overnight will be foreseen at Eldoret.

Day 3: Eldoret - Transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Lake Nakuru national Park. This journey takes about 4 hours of driving. On arrival at Lake Nakuru National park, you will be served lunch at Nakuru Lodge. After Lunch, you will embark on a game drive in the park and bird watching at Lake Nakuru.

Lake Nakuru is world famous for, and was created a National Park, to protect its stunning flocks of lesser flamingo, which literally turn its shores pink. Notable game within the lake includes hippo and clawless otters. On the shores roam waterbuck, Bohor's Reedbuck and zebra. The woodlands and forest are now home to both black and white rhino. In 1987, only two black rhinos remained following the ravages of poaching. By creating a rhino sanctuary within the park and reintroducing a breeding herd from Laikipia, the K.W.S. has now successfully re-established rhino in the park.

Game viewing is relatively easy: buffalo, leopard, lion, Rothschild's giraffe, Black and White Colobus monkey are plentiful in the forest. The bushlands offer eland, steinbok, impala, Chandler's reedbuck and whilst rock hyrax and klipspringer occupy the cliffs and escarpment.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru – Transfer to Naivasha.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Lake Naivasha. You will lunch at the hotel on arrival. In the evening you relax at Lake Naivasha. This is one of the exiting moment of the trip. Dinner and overnight will be foreseen at Naivasha Country Club.

Day 5: Naivasha – Transfer to Masai Mara National Park.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Masai Mara National Park. The Masai Mara National Reserve is probably the most famous and most visited Reserve in Kenya. It offers breathtaking views an extraordinary density of animals including "the Big Five" (lions, leopard, elephant, buffalo, rhinoceros) and may varieties of plains game.

An impressive feature is the annual migration of wildebeests, zebras and gazelles from the plains of the Serengeti that cross the Tanzanian border and rivers to reach the Mara's grasslands from late June, tracked by predators: lion, leopard, cheetah, and hyena, and circled by vultures as their journey unfolds. Their dramatic river crossings are a reality for tourists visiting in early July-August. Apart from the seasonal migration, game viewing is excellent year round. Game includes elephant, black rhino, buffalo, plains zebra, hartebeest and big cats. The rivers are home to hippo and crocodiles.

Day 6: Masai Mara – Game drives.

After an early breakfast, you will go for a game drive searching for the "Big Five" among plenty of other plains. We shall extend this to view the Hippo point where they submerge at the approach of a vehicle. Here you will have, eexceptional game viewing: Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Elephant, Mara River Hippo Pools, views across the Plains and Rolling Hills. Dinner and overnight will be at your Lodge.

Day 7: Masai Mara – Transfer to Kisumu.

Early in the morning, you will be transfered to Kisumu. While moving you will be able to view the beautiful sceneries of Kenya. Overnight and dinner will be served at Kisumu.

Lodge Accommodation: Imperial Hotel Kisumu.

Day 8: Kisumu – Transfer to Kampala.

After breakfast, clients will be transferred to Kampala via Busia border. You will pass through Jinja town and you have lunch in Jinja. Dinner and overnight will be in Kampala.

Lodge Accommodation: Hotel Africana or Sophie's Motel.

Day 9: Kampala – Transfer to Kibale National Park.

After breakfast, we will drive to Kibale National Park via Mubende with a stop over at Fort Portal Town. Departure will be at 8h00 am. You will have lunch in Fort Portal town. After lunch we proceed to Kibale Forest National Park. An overnight is foreseen at Kibale NP.

Lodge Accommodation: Kibale Primates Lodge or Travellers Inn Fort Portal.

Day 10: Kibale NP – Queen Elizabeth NP (Mweya).

After breakfast you will depart to the forest searching for Chimpanzees. Here your guides will brief you of all the activities to be done in the forest. The forest is a paradise of many species of birds, chimps, Baboons and white Colobus monkeys. After Chimp trekking you return to the hotel for lunch. After lunch you will be transferred to Queen Elizabeth National Park (Mweya). Overnight is foreseen at Mweya safari lodge.

Activity: Chimp trekking, bird watching and other small primates, natures walk

Day 11: Mweya Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Early morning you will go for a morning game drive since it is the most favorable time for Game viewing. Among the many activities includes visiting the Kob mating ground where a large number of the Kobs converge, visit of Kasenyi village and the schools. In this area there are lions, Kobs, Elephants, Buffalos, warthogs, bushbuck and waterbuck. You will return to the hotel for Lunch.

After lunch you will go for a launch trip to Kazinga channel. The Kazinga Channel is a natural channel of 36 km long between Lake George and Lake Edward. You will be able to see elephants, hippo, Nile crocodile and many water birds. The water birds are plentiful along the channel: African skimmers, African fish eagles, cormorants, saddle-billed storks, pelicans, etc. The Kazinga Channel divides Queen Elizabeth in a northern (Mweya) and southern part (Maramagambo, Kyambura, and Ishasha). Landscapes will be different. The northern part is a euphorbia savannah while the southern sector is a typical acacia savannah.

Activities: Game viewing, boat trip and visit of school.

Day 12: Queen Elizabeth NP – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest NP

After Breakfast, we shall depart for Bwindi Impenetrable NP. On your way to Bwindi, you will have a short game drive in Ishasha before proceeding to Bwindi. We will drive to the northern circuit which is the area near the main road known for its tree climbing lions. We look particularly at the many trees where lions like to stay thereafter transfer to Bwindi. We shall take a picnic lunch with us. Overnight and dinner will be foreseen at Bwindi – Buhoma.

Activities: Game viewing.

Accommodation: Buhoma Homestead or Buhoma Community Rest Camp.

Day 13: Gorilla Trekking - Bwindi Impenetrable Forest NP

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest NP is a natural rain forest that has beautiful scenery for trekkers. Here you will be required to report to the Park headquarters for briefing for Gorilla trekking at 7h00 am. Gorilla trekking is un predictable, it can take from 2 to 8 hours depending on the gorilla group you have been given. A good physical condition is recommended. For conservation purposes, time spent with the gorillas is limited to one hour. A ranger will brief you on how to behave with the gorillas. You will go with a picnic lunch when trekking the gorillas.

After Gorilla trekking, you will be entertained by the orphans from Buhoma Community. Here you can donate anything that you have for the orphans since they are a poor community. If time allows you will be able to visit the local schools also.

Activities: Gorilla trekking.

Accommodation: Buhoma Homestead or Buhoma Community Rest Camp.

Day 14: Bwindi – Transfer to Kampala.

This is along journey to Kampala. It can take about 10 to 12 hours driving on the road. Immediately after breakfast, you will be transferred to reach in Kampala before dark. You will make a stop over at the Equator in Masaka. Lunch will be served at Mbarara town.

Day 15: Kampala visit and Departure.

For flight departing in the morning, you will be transferred to Entebbe Airport for departure. For those having evening flights, they will do a Kampala city tour and then transferred to Entebbe Airport for departure.

Important Points to note:

 We always advise our clients to bring soft or leather bags for easy transfers.

 Minimum age for gorilla trekking is 15 years old.

 We advise you to carry enough money to meet your personal expenses while here on safari.

 Tips are always given as a way of appreciating the service provided to the tour leader.

 This safari can be extended to Rwanda for further gorilla trekking a different environment.

What to bring on safari?

Clothes that are friendly to wildlife observation, good walking shoes, a few long-sleeve shirts, slippers, sweater for cool evenings, sun protection: hat, sunglasses, sun cream, video/photo camera i.e. longer telelens is very useful, reserve batteries, films, binoculars and a torch for dark nights.

Optional Activities on this safari:

This safari can extended to visit Sesse Island on Lake Victoria and among activities to be done include; sun bathing, boat cruise on lake Victoria, bird watching and forest and beach walk.
